We are looking for a registered Senior Pharmacy Technician with experience of providing services to people who use drugs. We also are interested in hearing from applicants who have transferable skills from the hospital or community pharmacy sectors.

We’d also like you to have people management experience.

About the job

You will be working within the well-established and award-winning Medicines Management Team to support our services across England & Scotland in order to:

• provide professional medicines management advice and support to services to ensure compliance with legislative and regulatory requirement
• deliver high quality, safe, efficient, and cost-effective medicines management systems and processes.
• ensure that controlled drugs and stationery are handled and stored securely in line with policies and procedures and Home Office regulations
• build relationships with, and support the medicines management interface with Primary Care and other organisations such as Local Pharmaceutical Committees, Community Pharmacies and Local Intelligence Networks

As a Senior Pharmacy Technician, you’ll take the lead on implementing new services, ensuring that our suite of service user information is up to date, and supporting services to respond to medicines related incidents appropriately.

You’ll be collaborating with clinicians, operational and support staff across We Are With You services as well as the central clinical governance team.

Led by our Director of Pharmacy, you’ll be joining an increasing workforce of pharmacy professionals across our organisation with opportunities to attend our regular network meetings and external conferences.

We welcome applications for this Senior Pharmacy Technician role with experience in the following areas: Medicines Management, Clinical, Multidisciplinary, Records Management, Registered Pharmacist, GPhC, NVQ Level 3 Pharmacy Services, BTEC Pharmacy Technician, IT, Communication Skills.

Essential Skills:

To carry out this Senior Pharmacy Technician role successfully, you will:

• be a registered pharmacy technician (with GPhC)
• hold NVQ level 3 Pharmacy Services BTEC Pharmacy Technician (or equivalent)
• be able to evidence your continuous professional development
• have at least 4 years post-qualification experience working in a pharmacy environment
• be experienced at providing medicines-related advice to service users/carers
• have worked in a multidisciplinary team
• be able to use your initiative but recognise personal and professional limitations
• have experience of change management in medicines management
• be experienced at monitoring costs, expenditure, and auditing
• have knowledge of controlled drugs regulations and policy development
• be organised, able to manage your time and prioritise effectively
• be able to work well in a team environment
• have some training, teaching, or presentation skills
• be able to gather, record and maintain relevant information
• possess problem solving skills and abilities, dealing with unexpected demands with ease
• understand assessment approaches including risk assessments
• have good communication skills, written and verbal, and comfortable using IT 
• be able to travel UK-wide if required for ad hoc meetings

Desired Skills

Candidates who have the following as well as the essential criteria will be at an advantage:

• is an accredited Medicines Management Technician
• is an accredited Checking Technician
• has experience of formulary management
• has medicines information experience
• knowledge of dealing with personal safety situations
• experience in a criminal justice or mental health setting
