Job Description

We are looking for casual technicians to join our technical department. This is a great opportunity to work in a well-equipped, modern venue and be part of team producing professional shows and events. Our ideal candidate will be a good team player, with experience in sound, light, video or stage management.

Job Purpose

The practical provision of technical services in all venues, to include the use and operation of lighting, sound and stage equipment.

Key Task Areas

  • Day to day rigging, and operation of technical equipment.
  • Upkeep, housekeeping, and maintenance of technical equipment and areas.
  • To assist in presenting visiting shows to a high standard.
  • Promote and adhere to the organisation’s culture and values.
  • To be aware of, adhere to, and implement any legislative requirements consistent with overall duties of this post, with particular regard to Health and Safety policies and procedures, Data Protection Act 1998 and Equal Opportunities.
  • To undergo relevant training and development required by the Technical Manager.
  • To carry out any other tasks that will, from time to time be allocated by the Technical Manager, or Technical & Buildings Director on an ad hoc or continuing basis, commensurate with the general level of responsibility of the post.

Essential Skills

Experience

  • Some experience in receiving/producing house

Knowledge/Qualifications·      

  • Proven interest at least one of lighting, sound, staging and flying systems & rigging
  • Some knowledge of receiving/producing house techniques
  • Understanding and commitment to live performance

Skills/Abilities·      

  • Strong organisational skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Operation of technical control equipment
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
  • Attention to detail
  • Experience of lifting & moving heavy loads

About Company

The Core at Corby Cube is a registered charity and we have recently celebrated our 10th Birthday. In this time we have welcomed more than 300,000 audience members and participants to our town centre venue, and made a local economic impact of £16.8 million.

The Core at Corby Cube consists of three spaces. The Theatre seats 445 people on three levels- the main live programme takes place here with professional visiting companies, local amateur groups, schools and community organisations all regularly performing on the stage. We present music, comedy, dance, theatre and family shows and have recently seen visits from Sarah Millican, Northern Ballet, Jason Manford and The Searchers, to name a few. The Lab is a studio space suitable for smaller-scale shows and family activities. The Base is an underground workshop space which doubles as a training room, conference space and recording studio.
