Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Yard Manager to join our team at our Whitburn Operations Centre working Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm.

The Yard Manager is responsible for leading the yard team to provide excellent service to its customers and to ensure Copart processes are followed under the general supervision of the General Manager.

The Yard Manager plays a key role in the success of the business by performing the following main duties:

• Responsible for the supervision, hiring, training, development and motivating of all yard colleagues to meet company and customer expectations and to maximise productivity and minimise turnover 
• Manages the day-to-day operations of the yard, including managing the receiving, storing, auction set-up, vehicle documentation, protection and maintenance functions
• Ensures excellent Customer Service is provided to all customers and handle issues as required 
• Ensure all who enter the Yard comply with all H&S and Company procedures including all employees, members, sub-haulers and designated drivers to ensure a safe working environment is established and maintained

Essential Skills

• Positive, can-do attitude - must be able to multi-task within a fast-paced environment 
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Must be computer literate 
• Customer service focused (both internal and external customers)
• Team supervisory experience in a production-oriented environment where strict H&S processes must be enforced and adhered to (including hiring, training and management) 
• Proactive, can use initiative and work on own when required 
• Can develop a team and introduce new working practices
• Flexibility to work overtime as required and attend call outs
