Job Description

What your LinkedIn will now say: IT Manager

Has anyone ever told you that you are outstanding at what you do? Do you live and breathe all things Technology? If you do, then we need to talk.

As our IT Manager you’re the connection that brings the whole Tingdene Team together. After a short settling in and training period you’re going to be pivotal to our success. Every day we’re powering ahead with our ambitious plans for change, and we want you to be at the centre of it all.

You’ll be working within a company full of driven people who strive to keep Tingdene as the leading manufacturer of park homes and holiday lodges.

The job is varied and it’s certainly going to keep your brain busy. You’re not going to be sitting in an office answering one support call after another, waiting for 5pm to come along. If that’s what you’re after, then carry on scrolling.

At Tingdene it’s safe to say that no two days are the same. Sometimes you could be providing end user support and training; other times you’ll be gearing up for new infrastructure installs or system migrations. But no matter what it is you’ll be helping us become more efficient each and every day.
Not put off yet? Amazing. Let’s get into the details.

How you’re going to do it:

  • You’re going to review our set-up. You’ll learn how Tingdene works and advise us on what opportunities we’re currently missing out on.
  • You’re going to come up with initiatives to improve the workplace for everyone. Those clichés of “thinking outside of the box” and “blue sky thinking” definitely apply here.
  • You’re going to provide technical support to our team, and maybe a bit of emotional support when it’s time to say goodbye to an old bit of software they love more than their children.
  • You’re going to keep our infrastructure in tip-top condition. Sure, some equipment might be showing a few miles on the clock, but you’re going to bring us right up to date.
  • Working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment can be challenging, but you’re going to make technology and construction go hand-in-hand.
  • With coming up to 80 users in the team there’s a lot of us to look after when it comes to data security. But we’re confident you'll spot a scammer from a mile away and keep our teams safe from their long-lost relatives that want to leave a small fortune in their wills.
  • We always want to know how we’re improving, and we’ll need you to deliver KPIs to the management team, so we know we’re always on track.

The supporting cast:

HyperV, Ubiquiti, Veeam, Microsoft Azure, Office 365, Windows Server, Mimecast, all the usual stuff.

Essential Skills

What we’re expecting you to have:

  • You’re going to be our in-house expert. Whether it is recommending a new phone system or foreseeing a problem with our bandwidth entering the premises, you’ll own everything to do with making the business better through technology.
  • You know your DNS from your DHCP and your packets from your pings; using Ubiquiti has made things easier but you’re still great at problem solving issues and keeping data flowing through our business.
  • You’re on top of the latest threats and can keep the bad people away from Tingdene. With you on the team you’ll keep us safer than a Volvo covered in bubble wrap.
  • You know your way around a budget and understand the impact of spend upon the performance of the business.
  • We need a super organised manager. With new tickets being opened every day it’s important to keep everyone happy (that’s easier said than done!)
