Job Description

A Corby based specialist manufacturer of polymer based products seeks an analytical, motivated graduate to join their technical team as a Development technologist.

The purpose of this role is to provide technical support across all areas of the business including marketing, sales, production, engineering and logistics.  This R & D focused position presents the opportunity to be immersed in all areas of a successful business and experience lab based work, desk based research, detailed project work, external customer interaction and wider industry interaction.

On a day to day basis you will get involved in the following:

Research & Development projects including: design, planning, tracking projects and reporting, managing external testing and trials, tracking project expenditure and attending exhibitions and conferences.

Production support including: providing technical information to support trials, quality management and SPC activities whilst assisting in the selection and specification of raw materials and product specifications. Managing product bills of materials / formulations.

Sales support including: handling customer technical enquiries and complaints, analysing competitor products and attending trade shows.

Marketing support including: Liaise with external test houses to coordinate product testing, producing technical data sheets and supporting all marketing activities from a technical perspective.

Essential Skills

Applicants will be graduates in a science or engineering discipline with sound lab based physical testing experience. You will be comfortable using Microsoft applications, ERP and data management software.  You must also be comfortable communicating with colleagues, customers and external suppliers in meetings and over the phone.  Commercially aware, you will also thrive on solving problems and communicating your ideas effectively.

Desired Skills

If your degree is in Chemistry, Polymers, Materials or Natural sciences, all the better.  Experience in a customer service role, with knowledge of ISO management systems and / or POPMAR / PDCA processes would also be an advantage. Finally any Health & Safety  / Environmental qualifications would be an added benefit.
