Job Description

As Community Support Services Manager, you will provide operational management and leadership of the Community Support service. The Community Support team work with people with learning disabilities and/or mental health challenges who live in the community with family or friends, or live alone. 

The role includes the effective management of people and resources plus responsibility for developing the service in line with Three Cs strategy “Bringing Choices to Life”. You will engage with the team to develop an annual service plan. You will adopt and imbed a structured approach to behaviour support which includes agreeing and implementing a behaviour support policy.

With substantial successful management experience, the post holder will be required to manage community support services for people with Learning Disabilities and/or Mental Health challenges across several London boroughs. Key responsibilities will include ensuring that quality standards and regulatory requirements are met; ensuring resources are effectively and efficiently deployed and managed; playing a key role in the development and management of new services; internal and external relationship management. 

You will be passionate about supporting people to live independent lives in the community. In this role, you will work closely with the Lewisham Day Services manager plus manage a team of support workers. You will be a quick thinker who can support staff to problem solve and think on their feet.

You will also be responsible for networking and knowledge sharing and keeping abreast of research and development, innovation and best practice in your areas of responsibility.

Essential Skills

You must have significant experience of

  • Managing individual staff and teams and dealing with performance issues
  • Working in community-based services.
  • Working with people with learning disabilities who may have behaviour that challenges services, complex needs and physical disabilities.
  • Working with people with mental health challenges.
  • Person centred approach to working.

Mandatory Requirements for Employment:

  • Qualification’s check.
